California’s Moonshot: A Discussion of Bold and Groundbreaking Actions to End the Wildfire Crisis
California’s wildfire threat is massive, imperiling the state’s precious natural resources and jeopardizing the well-being of each and every resident. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone in the Bay Area who has kept abreast of the news, has lost a home (or knows of someone who has), has endured days and nights without power or has had to heed recurrent health warnings. Unless action is taken urgently, and in true proportion to the danger, these firestorms will become more frequent, more severe, more widespread and will cost California businesses and residents much more than the billions of dollars already (or about to be) spent.
Dr. Glenda Humiston of the University of California, is one of those persons whom, while not fighting fires in the traditional sense, is very much on the front lines of Governor Newsom’s and the private sector’s efforts to achieve lasting results in the battle against wildfires.
Join us on December 12th at the Pivot Interiors headquarters in Santa Clara, CA as Dr. Humiston describes how we arrived at this situation; the extent of the challenges we all now face; the public and private sector responses that are imperative if we are to get ahead of this crisis; and the social, ecological and economic benefits that we all will enjoy if we swiftly heed the call to action and embrace California’s Moonshot.
