This engaged panel of leading real estate, community, and planning experts will share their vision for one of Boston's oldest neighborhoods. How has development occurred here in the past, and what are some innovative ways this area will evolve in the coming years? Different than other booming areas around Boston, Charlestown promises unique opportunities and a case history to learn from.
Ted Schwartzberg, Boston Planning and
Ted Schwartzberg is a Senior Planner for the Boston Planning and Development Agency, where he serves as the neighborhood planner for Charlestown, Dorchester, Back Bay, and Beacon Hill. Mr. Schwartzberg manages land use planning initiatives throughout the city, including recent projects in Charlestown’s Sullivan Square. Mr. Schwartzberg holds master’s degrees in city planning and real estate development from MIT, as well as a BA in political science from Tufts University.
Chris Pfohl, Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and New Business, Pyramid Hotel Group
Chris Pfohl has over 30 years of experience as the developer, owner, and operator of hotels throughout the United States. He has led the acquisition, development, and management contract process for over 140 hotels throughout his career while holding Senior Officer-level positions for Hilton, InterContinental, and DoubleTree Hotels. In addition, he has held positions with Bentley Forbes Hospitality Group, Promus Hotel Company, and the Beacon Hotel Group operating, asset managing, acquiring, and developing numerous hotels and resorts.
Tucker Kelton, Charles River Realty
Mr. Kelton joined Charles River Realty Investors in 2014 and is responsible for the acquisition and repositioning of new investments. Before joining the firm, he worked at Beacon Capital Partners where he was involved in real estate transactions throughout the US. His work focused on the acquisition, financing, and disposition of value-added office property investments. Prior to Beacon, he was a Senior Financial Analyst in the Capital Markets group at Boston Properties where he was involved in acquisitions, property financings and development underwriting. Mr. Kelton began his career at CB Richard Ellis in Boston.
Lois Siegelman, MS, Consultant
Lois Siegelman, MS is a Consultant with over 40 years’ experience in healthcare operations management and business development with experience in both the acute care and post-acute care sectors. Her experience includes tertiary medical centers, acute rehabilitation, and long term care hospitals and senior living centers. Lois began her professional life as a Physical Therapist. Most recently she has served as a business development consultant to Levi-Wong Design Associates, a Concord-based architectural firm focused on the healthcare continuum.
Lois received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Boston University. She is a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, having served on the Massachusetts Chapter Board for many years as well as the Board of the Charlestown Y. She is currently a resident of Charlestown, President of the Friends of the Charlestown Navy Yard, and a Trustee of the USS Constitution Museum. She is experienced in helping organizations grow business and develop mutually beneficial relationships with other organizations.
