By one estimate, over the past two decades, we’ve built one-half million fewer homes in the Bay Area than were needed to keep pace with our region’s population and job growth. This deficit is even more striking when considering the lack of decent, affordable housing. The housing crisis, which affects all major metropolitan areas in California, has had vast implications for social equity, racial equality, sustainability, and the quality of life in the Bay Area; and not least of all, the region's attractiveness to commercial real estate occupiers.
Join fellow members of the Northern California Chapter of Corenet on Thursday, August 15, 2024, when an expert panel comprising a local residential developer, a citizen activist, a land use attorney and a public policy expert, share their insights on the causes of our current housing crisis, and engage in an interactive conversation about possible solutions.
We will be convening in the 4th-floor Podium Lounge at 1900 Broadway – Behring Company’s brand new, 39-story, state-of-the-art residential landmark atop the 19th Street BART station in Oakland. Registration begins at 3:30 pm; our program will run from 4 to 5 pm, followed by our usual catered, networking reception in the Podium Lounge and the adjacent Podium Deck.
