Panelists:

Nancy Gephart, Partner, Capital Markets at Shift Capital

Nancy is a Partner and leads the Capital Markets team at Shift Capital, a social impact real estate firm focused on making more inclusive neighborhoods that thrive. Shift is vertically integrated and owns roughly 2 million square feet of real estate throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and Nancy is responsible for capitalizing these assets and creating financial and strategic roadmaps for future growth. Prior to joining Shift, she deployed capital into impactful real estate projects at Capital Impact Partners, the Michigan Social Venture Fund, and a public-private partnership with the World Wildlife Fund. Nancy holds a BA in Political Science from Williams College and an MBA and MS from the University of Michigan.

 

David Leahy, Managing Director - East at Turner Impact

In his role as Managing Director, David Leahy manages the Turner-Agassi Education Facilities Funds’ operational and business development efforts in the eastern U.S. and works to identify potential school partners. Prior to Turner-Agassi, David was most recently the Chief Operating Officer for DC Prep, a charter school management organization (CMO) in Washington, DC. In that role, he was responsible for operations, human resources administration, finance, and real estate. Prior to DC Prep, David was an Associate Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund, Director of Financial Planning for Charter Schools USA, and a high school teacher in Pensacola, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A., Cum Laude), of Wake Forest University (M.B.A), and of the University of Portland (M.A. Teaching).

 

Moderator:

Paul Garvey, Executive Director, Cushman & Wakefield

Since 1986, Mr. Garvey has worked with clients and customers in the greater Philadelphia marketplace and has structured sales and leases for over 7.0 million square feet. Mr. Garvey majored in Finance and Management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy stationed shipboard and in Europe. Throughout his career, Paul has served in leadership roles in not-for-profit organizations – including the Philadelphia Relief Foundation, Pennsylvania Foundation for Housing Opportunity, Realtors Political Action Committee, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, and the TriState Realtors Commercial Alliance. He is currently a board member or officer of the Fairmont Park Historic Preservation Trust, the Boy Scouts of America, Cradle of Liberty Council, the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation – Philadelphia Committee. He serves as Chairman of the Alliance for a Better Pennsylvania. He has lectured on real estate topics numerous organizations such as 7x24, the Counselors of Real Estate, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and Continuing Professional Education.
