Fireside Chat: Preparedness for the 3rd wave of Covid-19

CoreNet Global India Chapter in association with Arogya World invites you to a Fireside Chat with experts on “Preparedness for the 3rd Wave of Covid-19”.

Date: Thursday, August 5
Time: 5:00 PM TO 6:00 PM

This pandemic surely took us by surprise. Our economy, our focus, our belief may not be what they were at the outset of 2020. Having said that, in today's deeply connected world, a lot of Companies, Non-Profits, and Government are investing time, effort and money to mobilise on-ground work and create awareness about Covid prevention and recovery.

Covid-19 has taken a great toll on the mental health of many people. It is being looked at as an “invisible enemy” and because of the invisibility, the fear is multiplied by many folds. Covid-19 even after 14 months remains an unpredictable disease and the impact of the disaster andthe fear of the unknown is endless.

A 2019 report published by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), says 197.3 million people live with mental disorders. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), depression causes an estimated 200 million lost workdays each year at a great loss to employers. It impacts the rate of absenteeism, loss of productivity, and concern in the workplace. The second wave of Covid-19 which has claimed many lives in a short time, has only exacerbated the situation. According to experts, this has created an atmosphere of uncertainty, which has become the root cause of Covid-induced anxiety.

In the midst of rising cases and related deaths, medical experts are not ruling out the possibility of a 3rd wave which could affect people of all ages. Employers must be prepared for any eventuality and rise up to protect the employees and make them emotionally strong and resilient in order to reduce the impact on business continuity.
