Texas Medical Center - A Discussion on Current and Future Activity.

The Texas Medical Center is one of the largest in the world and the growth of it will enable TMC to keep that title.  The Texas Medical Center will continue to attract talent and grow in tech, data and research.  As such, we wanted to speak to experts during this exciting time.

Please join us in welcoming David Perryman, Abbey Roberson and Lance Ferguson who will discuss the current and upcoming activity in the Texas Medical Center, as well as Louis Rosenthal who will serve as the moderator.

 

David Perryman, Director of Real Estate - Texas Children's Hospital

David Perryman joined Texas Children’s Hospital as its Director of Real Estate in January 2015 and has practiced corporate real estate since 1987.  He currently advises Texas Children’s executives on real estate strategy and portfolio optimization opportunities.  His department is responsible for transaction management, asset management, lease administration, facilities information and the arts & graphics programs.  Texas Children’s is the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare network with 140 locations comprising 10.8m square feet.

Prior to joining Texas Children’s, Mr. Perryman served 17 years in various leadership positions with the international real estate advisory firm JLL.  As Global Account Director for a Fortune 5 energy firm, Mr. Perryman’s team provided global transaction services and managed approximately 17 million square feet of office, research and industrial space in the US.  He also led JLL’s (Staubach’s) Houston Corporate Services division for 12 years.  

Mr. Perryman started his corporate real estate career in the financial services industry and later moved into the education and energy sectors.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in risk management from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science in Real Estate from Georgia State University.  His professional designations include the CCIM awarded by the CCIM Institute and the SLCR from CoreNet Global.  Mr. Perryman previously served on the board of the Houston Chapter of CoreNet Global in several capacities including president.

 

Abbey Roberson, AICP , Vice President of Planning - Texas Medical Center

Abbey Roberson has a Master Degree in Urban Planning from Georgia Institute of Technology.   She has been the VP of Planning at the Texas Medical Center for over five years. Prior to working for TMC, Abby was the VP and Regional Leader of Planning with HOK for over 11 years.

 

Lance Ferguson, Vice President, Operations - Memorial Hermann Health System

Lance Ferguson joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2006 and currently serves as the vice president of operations at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, which includes Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. 

He brings innovative and creative leadership, including health system integration, analytical ability, financial and business acumen and interpersonal and communications skills, to hospital operations, process improvement, strategic planning and governance. He has been involved in $1B merger and acquisition activities, governance restructuring, implementation of a $700M master facility plan at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and launch of the nation’s most successful Medicare shared savings accountable care organization (MSS ACO). 

As vice president of operations, Mr. Ferguson provides leadership and operational oversight for MH-TMC. Prior to his appointment as vice president, he served as executive director-liaison to the Memorial Hermann Health System president and CEO, director of business development and hospital operations and administrative fellow. He came to Memorial Hermann from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was a management analyst before becoming coordinator of telemedicine programs.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Healthcare Administration/Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Mr. Ferguson and his wife, a speech pathologist who focuses on early childhood development, have two children. In his leisure time, he enjoys cycling and gardening.

 

Louis Rosenthal, Executive Vice President, Regional Director - JLL

An industry veteran of more than 35 years, Louis is responsible for aligning clients’ business goals and objectives with creative real estate strategies and solutions. He brings significant experience and expertise in areas such as cost containment, risk mitigation, employee productivity, building design, construction costs, and transaction management. Louisis part of a team that concentrates on tenant representation and delivering an organized, methodical and transparent process to real estate strategy formulation and decision making.

Louis has closed more than 1,000 transactions totaling over ten million square feet for large corporations and professional service and consulting firms. His experience includes leasing of office, data center, trading floor, disaster recovery, and medical spaces, as well as the acquisition and disposition of office buildings and land. He has completed transactions throughout North America and Mexico. Louis has studied Houston’s office market and occupancy trends for more than 35 years and has authored numerous articles, publishing more than 20 JLL Houston office market forecasts. Before joining JLL, Louis worked for developers Martin Fein Interests, Inc. and Mark Lee & Associates, Inc., as well as the commercial brokerage
