As their 100-year anniversary approached, precision technology leaders Olympus sought to consolidate their Littleton, Southborough, and Waltham, MA locations into one highly collaborative, highly advanced headquarters in the Town of Westborough. The project, which connects Olympus’ previously separated in-house expertise, enhances their research and development processes for medical devices. Additionally, it provides Olympus with the tools to create a cutting-edge customer experience around the medical professionals they train and the products they exhibit showcasing customer facing surgical suites and specialized medical device lab areas.

As the Olympus Corporation’s Global Corporate Real Estate Lead, Steve is responsible for setting the strategic direction and executing on Olympus Corporations’ Real Estate needs on a global scale. He develops and aligns Olympus’ Real Estate strategies with regional business partners across the globe while working closely with regional Real Estate teams to ensure global strategy delivers clear solutions. In this role, Steve is responsible for developing policies and strategies to build inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Olympus’ culture and core values to life.
Marie E. Fitzgerald, IIDA

Marie is a Principal and executive leader at SMMA, leading the Interior Design practice while also serving on the Board of Directors for the firm. Working on a diverse range of projects from corporate workplaces to research environments, she offers more than 25 years of specialized experience in programming, space planning, and design. She is renowned in the New England design community as a mentor and leader, having been recognized with the Leadership Award of Excellence (2015) by the IIDA and as CoreNet’s Designer of the Year (2008).
Jonathan Merin, AIA, LEED AP
SMMA, Corporate & Commercial Studio Leader
As a Senior Associate and project manager at SMMA, Jonathan provides a comprehensive approach to the direction and controls of each of his projects. Specializing in corporate and research workplace environments, he excels at contextualizing corporate organizations’ goals, ideas, and their unique cultures to deliver impressive end projects. Over the past two years he has managed and delivered nearly two million square feet of workplace design and construction for many of the area’s most notable organizations.
