Taking cues from end-users on the journey into the future of work
March will mark the one-year point for the disruption that sent most corporate employees to their home office – or their dining room table, son’s bedroom, basement corner, or one of many unimaginable long-term remote offices. Now, as we focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, we sift through the pros and cons of this work-from-home experiment and try to imagine our “new normal”. Speculation, and many national surveys, tell us that the 40 hour/week resident worker, may no longer be the norm. Terms like hoteling, shared address, remote worker, and nomad all existed pre-pandemic. Many companies invested in workplace strategies that embraced these alternative work modes and set in place technological, cultural, and communication initiatives to support a distributed work model. This program will introduce a panel of experts who will share their stories from past experiences working with a distributed workforce, and their visions for the journey ahead.
